According to the Kidney specialist you will be able to carry your artificial kidney (once this technology comes about) in a little handbag.  Now is that good news or what.
I am all booked in for my op on Monday and should start peritoneal dialysis about a week later.   While I was waiting to see the specialist I got chatting to a young man who explained to me what I can expect, what can go wrong and how he is coping with the bags.  I am so grateful to this young man as he even showed me the catheter.  I expected the catheter to be the size of a hosepipe and just wanted to know if I can still wear jeans.  Well was I surprised to see the size of the tubing?  Jeans here I come!!
So I am about, but just lying low and trying to stay calm.

Next time you go to the doctor please ask him to check your kidneys.  This is one of those silent deceases and creeps up on you and when you realise something is wrong it is way too late.
