Cameron

Well no matter how you voted, you'll surely agree we've experienced a huge moment in Scottish politics. As the exit poll was announced, I was on the edge of my seat. Readying myself for news of no change.

We now know 1,454,436 voters in Scotland chose to vote SNP. Delivering success which many could have only dreamt of; for others, a nightmare beyond the worst imaginable.

There were casualties aplenty on the night. Outgoing MPs who held once impregnable seats. Famous faces such as Murphy, Balls, Kennedy and Alexander. Pollsters who got their predications wrong and who have now launched an inquiry.

But will the biggest casualties come from amongst the vulnerable who depend on the compassion of the state for their protection and wellbeing?

David Cameron's victory speech, delivered outside number 10, presented his government as having compassion:

"giving the poorest people the chance of training, a job, and hope for the future."

"for children who don't get the best start in life, there must be the nursery education and good schooling that can transform their life chances."

The reality for many over the last 5 years, as we know, has been quite different.
