To That Fondness
extract from "Cat", by Michael Hamburger
Only at times, by chance meeting the gaze
Of her amber eyes that can rest on me
As on a beech-bole, on bracken or meadow grass
I'm moved to celebrate the years between us,
The farness and the nearness:
My fingers graze her head.
To that fondness she purrs assent.
Must say, disappointed with the results today, and surprised - if the majority are getting poorer, then why would they vote for the Party that's doing it to them?? Rhetorical question; I'm aware it's not done to discuss politics here.
So, moving on, got guests for the weekend - some for a reunion of folk we worked with in Brazil - one couple already here - just shared a salmon, jersey potatoes, and asparagus dinner - not exactly Brazilian fare.
