Fertility Friday....

A busy day  again cattle wise today. Another cow calved during the night. Not sure if it has sucked,but it is trailing on behind her ,so will chance it.
Spent the morning next door sorting out cows and calves and put them out to the grass. It was one of the further out fields,so they weren't so frisky by the time they got there.
Spent the afternoon with the vet and 2 students semen testing bulls. This involves electro stimulating the bull ,then collecting a sample and studying it under the microscope to check the quality,and counting there are enough wee swimmers ! If not, he gets a re test at a later date,and if he fails again  ,its steak pie time ! It sounds harsh, but if a bull isn't fertile then there is no point of him being here,as no calves = no income.
On a lighter note it looks like there will be a sharp increase in politicians drawing the dole after yesterday's election !
