#VEDay70

It has been a long day. I was up half the night following the election. This evening I've been to Hertford Castle to see the #VEDay70 beacon lit. 

Strange for me to be out in the evening. Though not that far from me, Hertford is a place I drive through rather than visit. We sang rousing songs including Jerusalem and Rule Britannia. I had been tearful earlier watching veteran Gale lay his wreath at The Cenotaph. I met people who were tearful about their mothers and grandfathers or just welling up with pride. Proud to be British and proud of what our forebears have done for us.
