Maha and Mei were two lovely trainees on the course I worked on last July here in Cairo and they've been full-time teachers at the BC since then. We've kept in touch and it was a real privilege yesterday for my co-trainer and to go to Maha's family home for lunch. They live about 45 minutes outside of Cairo in the area that's known as New Cairo. Her lovely mum had put on an impressive array of delicious Egyptian foods and we, of course, tried everything! Lovely to see them again, catch up and to meet Maha's family. This pic was taken under my direction after lunch when we were walking around the ''complex' where Maha lives. It feels like a town, complete with shopping centre, cinema, five mosques, a huge 'club' with swimming pool, gym, tennis courts etc and a street of restaurants. There's a mix of flats and villas and lots of greenery, trees, plants and even birdlife. No honking horns or Cairo chaos! For those who can afford it, the 45 minute commute into Cairo doesn't seem to put them off.
