The Birdcage

Poor Flo has been working ALL night!  Not only did she take her 10 year old daughter and five VERY excited 10 year old friends to the cinema for a late birthday treat, she invited them for pizza and a sleepover while baking two wedding cakes for this weekend.  Now, in my eyes, that's a form of self harm but to Flo, she is just a super woman! Like all lone parents everywhere, she has learned how to compensate for a rather lacking father figure.  

However, due to her amazing to love her kids in really balanced way, they feel any lack of affection, attention or love but don't have that spoilt 'over compensating' parenting vibe about them that sadly some children develop when their parents split.  Obviously, I try and play the male role model as much as possible and try and love them like they were my own but there are unique challenges when you're not the dad.  It's probably easier if you've walked into their lives when they are really little but 7 and 9 is juuust a little more tricky.  Saying that, we all have such an amazing relationship and all consider ourselves one big family even if this particular family is made up of three different surnames!
