Living a better life

Today we had a lovely time. We had a lie in, then a quiet morning pottering about before leaving by minbus for the Bear Sanctuary. It was a very slow ride on atrocious roads but worth all the jolting and jarring.

There are 25 bears in this sanctuary. Nearly all have been dancing bears and have been bought from their owners. Many show the signs of physical abuse and two are blind from beatings. Gradually they learn to cope with the relative freedom of their enclosures. They learn to hibernate. All are neutered because they are unlikely to be able to be good parents as a result of their own lack of a normal upbringing.

Photography was challenging because they were in the shade and seen through wire fences. I think this one looks relaxed and happy.

It's been very hot and sunny all day.
