Ancient and Modern
Wonder if this ancient lookout tower was busy on the night of 30 September 1263 when King Hakon on Norway was caught in a big storm that drove many of his ships onto the rocky shore.
The skirmishes that followed became known as the Battle of Largs.
King Hakon then decided he had had enough of the Scottish weather and headed for home.
Sadly he never made it , dying shortly later in Bishops Palace in Kirkwall on the Island of Orkney.
