Zoom lens

I've mostly been disappointed with the blips I've done of birds and finally decided to buy a zoom lens, a Nikon AF-S VR 70-300 f/4. 5 -5.6g IF-ED, as recommended by a Blipfoto member.  So my first close-up shot of a bird (great-tit I think) that's not blurred because I had to crop it so much. 
Now I'll really need to learn to use the camera properly to justify the expense.
