Apparently when a cricket ball is lost, you can't just use any old ball to be able to continue with the game.

Supposedly every ball plays differently and it's unfair to switch to another without the captains agreeing which one to use.

Hubby took great pains to tell me this as we looked on from the balcony. I think my eyes may have glazed over but I don't think he noticed.

So out comes the Asda carrier bag with a selection of replacements.

I think it would be easier if the batters didn't hit it so far.

After all, it's just a glorified game of rounders, isn't it?
