Having a field day.

The blackbirds were having a very successful hunting trip this morning. Mr Blackbird has no less than three insects in his mouth (you can see them better in the extra photo). One of them is a slug.
And there was me thinking that we had acquired a hedgehog who was eating the slugs, I've noticed that there are very few of them this year. 
After I saw this shot I looked it up and it seems that blackbirds eat slugs. I didn't know that. Happy days.
There was a starling working the same patch. They seem to be visiting more often. Only a few at the moment but no doubt there will soon be a gang of them. Plenty of room for everyone. (another extra)
Back in March I put a few spuds that were sprouting into an old shopping bag. They are coming along very nicely. (last extra).
Busy day tomorrow, weather permitting. I intend planting out all the seedlings on my window sill to make way for a new batch. I hope it's not too soon.
