Loudly sing cuckoo
Summer is a-coming in
Loudly sing cuckoo
Groweth seed and bloweth mead
and springs the wood anew
Sing cuckoo
Ewe bleateth aft-er lamb,
Calf loweth after cow,
Bullock starteth, buck farteth,
Merry sing cuckoo!
Cuckoo, cuckoo!
Well singest thou cuckoo, Nor cease thou never now!
Sing cuckoo now, Sing cuckoo!
Well the cuckoo has arrived but summer has buggered off departed. Lashing!!!! Do take a listen to how this song may have been sung originally - and you can join in. Summer is a cumen in . Didn't know the bit about the buck!Just recovering from yet another historic evening - the fifth gig in eight days! Last night was just incredible, astonishing to get bands of such high calibre in a windy marquee in darkest West Cork. First up were the magnificent Foghorn Stringband from Oregon, but now mainly residing in the Yukon. Two men, two women, a double bass, a mandolin, a guitar and a fiddle. Then on came Dáimh mainly from Skye via California and Dublin. What a blast - literally as they did a stonking set complete with bagpipes. We staggered into bed around 2am, ears ringing!
And if you get a moment do look at son#2's showreel , just finished. And today's blip? I'll keep you guessing :)
