Dingy Skipper
I was leading a work party at the nature reserve today. The weather was a lot better than the forecast and the long periods of sun this afternoon brought lots of Dingy Skippers out, as well as Burnet Companion, the little moth that shares its habitat and impersonates it, making butterfly hunters check more carefully. Lots of Bird's-foot Trefoil, the larval food plant of the Dingy Skipper and a number of other butterflies, is also coming into flower. A perfect day to be working outdoors, but digging out birch scrub from our best gentian area has left me aching and ready for a soak in the bath.
