The Strood Channel
Today is a really beautiful day and our friends took us to Mersea. We parked and walked along a levee along the Strood Channel. On the left you can see the groynes, planted to protect the estuary from erosion by the sea. The taller green flowered plants are Alexanders or Smyrnium Olusatrum or Black Lovage, an edible salt tolerant plant. There is a very interesting article here:

You have to be careful because this plant is similar to Hemlock!
