Tulip Festival
Just didn't have the energy this morning, to get up early for a 8 mile walk!
( after a very enjoyable evening!)
So persuaded MrC to drive over to Burnby Hall, Nr Pocklington, to see the Tulip Festival, and a more leisurely walk round the gardens.
14,000 bulbs, 30 varieties, supplied and planted by Blom's Bulbs, a family owned business, with nurseries in England, Holland and the United States. A beautiful display. Most of them still looking good.
Lots of families having picnics on the grass round the lake, or in the cafe, which is where we had lunch.
I had a Coronation Chicken platter. Something I haven't had for years, and had forgotten how good it tasted.
In the afternoon we were entertained for a couple of hours by the East Riding of Yorkshire Band.
They played many tunes we liked, especially a tribute for V.E. Day, with a medley of war time songs, including The White Cliffs of Dover.
We were all singing along!
So very English with everyone sat round on the grass, and the band playing on the band stand.
The weather was kind to us and the sun shone most of the time.
(A few more extra photos)
We will be back in July to see their National Collection of water lilies.
( must make sure we pick a warm sunny day!)
Hope you have all enjoyed the weekend too.
