Cairn to Ewan Macpherson of Cluny

I passed this cairn near Dalwhinnie on my way to Skye today. It was raised in memory of Ewan MacPherson of Cluny, Colonel of the Badenoch men in the 1745 uprising, and later chief of the Clan MacPherson 1746-64.

He was the last Jacobite fugitive to reach France in June 1755. He died at Dunkirk on 30 January 1764 aged 58.
