Handbag-tossing contest

A very busy day in the town today. I went to the market as per. It had been moved a bit to make way for a stage in the market square. Today was the 'musical spring' event, which meant there were lots of musicians dotted around town performing everything from gospel to latin to heavy metal. In front of the library was a craft market and the mosque had an open day with lots of food and drink on offer. This picture shows the trophies that were lined up waiting to be collected by the winners of the 'Upper Swabian Women's Handbag-Tossing Contest' organised by the Catholic Women's Union. Think shotput with handbags. I met a friend there, we watched and had a coffee. Then I went to the mosque to pick up lunch and cycled home, narrowly avoiding a rainshower.
