Bealach Conglais
The panel is based on the story of Baltinglass from 140BC. Bealach Conglais means the Road of Cuglas. The Cuglas or Glas (Cu means a hound) was the son of Don Deasa, King of Leinster and huntsman to Conor Mor, High King of Ireland (109-40BC). He, the legend says, hunted a wild boar along the southern slopes of Baltinglass Hill, up to a cave in the townland of Carsrock. The boar went to ground in a cave in the rock and was followed by the hounds and their huntsman, none of whom were ever seen again.
Students at the local school were having an End of Year Exhibition displaying all the things they worked on during the year. This was one project by 5th years. I went to the Exhibition with a friend. It was indeed a great display of talent.
