Mono-Monday: Twilight Zone -"It's a Cookbook"
One of the most memorable episodes of the Twilight Zone, first shown March 2, 1962, was entitled “To Serve Man."
"An alien race comes to earth, promising peace and sharing technology. A linguist and his team set out to translate the alien's language, using a book whose title they deduce is "To Serve Man”. The title is a play on the verb serve, which has a dual meaning of "to assist" and "to provide as a meal.” The episode, along with the line, "It's a cookbook!," have become elements in pop culture. Rod Serling provides a darkly humorous coda in voice over, noting man's devolution from "dust to dessert" and from ruler of a planet to 'an ingredient in someone's soup'."
This is my most morbid entry for the Mono- Monday Twilight Zone Challenge hosted by DollyKGray.
