Vineyards, historical villages and apricot trees

A fascinating day of culture, local produce and English history in this small baroque town of Durnstein with its distinctive blue monastic church spire. Richard the Lionheart was captured and held in the dry-stone castle (now ruined) which gave the town its name. Inside the town walls are numerous eating houses, wineries and shops selling local produce, much of which centres around the "marillen" apricot.
Bike and boat tour day 5: Krems to Emmersdorf, 35km.
