We decided that today we'd walk off our post-election blues with a Fitbit-satisfying outing along the Leeds-Liverpool canal, up to where it's crossed by the M65, grab a pub lunch, and then head back down to Chorley again.

I turned out to be just under six miles each way and I must that despite my fairly new DMs and a pair of thick socks, my feet were feeling it for the last three miles or so (which is odd as I can run that far without feeling it. In my feet at least!).

This evening, we rested our feet in the Minx's 'yarden' wrapped in blankets, while the chiminea warmed up and the food cooked on the barbecue, listening to Tinderstick's beautiful instrumental album 'Ypres'. It was a good day for counting my blessings.
