stuff & nonsense

What can I say?

Let this be a lesson to you all. Never ever let me take charge of the drinks kitty in the pub!

I'm sorry I haven't been around much this weekend, but I spent a lot of time either reading or watching reviews and comparisons yesterday (intermixed with a few support calls from work, grrr....) and today I was commiserating celebrating with reversepolarity on his 40th (actually Tuesday) with a BBQ in the glorious sunshine! What a day, and totally unexpected given the cloudy, wet start we had. A fantastic time was had by all. Happy birthday P, when it comes and welcome to the club!

And so to the subject of tonight's blip. Heh, I still can't believe I actually went out and bought it this morning. Now, I'd like to blame the wedding shoot for this purchase too, but that really would be a stretch too far! ;- ) While I was a little concerned about the low light performance of the 60D, to be fair this one is just down to me. In fact, given I've only got two weeks before the wedding, it might not even be used (hahahaha, yeah)! The main point of concern will be understanding and mastering the 61 point AF, a bit of a move up from the 9 point AF of the 60D. Cross-type, double cross-type, vertical and horizontal focusing. Apparently depending on your lens it will belong to one of eight focus pattern groups. Still with me? Heh, then you have six AF focus modes to chose from. Single-point spot, single-point, point expansion, point expansion surrounding, zone and 61-point automatic. Phew! Of course, there will be a lot more to take in, but so long as I get the basics sorted all should be good.

Sooooo, I've taken a few test shots indoors with and without flash and I have to say I'm mightily impressed so far. Another "Phew!" right there! :- ) Transfer of power will not take place immediately. This one needs to get referred to the insurance company. Oooh, talking of insurance, I know it's been a while since I gave an update, but so far I'm still getting free cover for my monster lens. However, given that this body cost more than the first car I bought, I'm not coming off the phone until I get something in writing from them this time!

I've got to rush out again I'm afraid. Thanks so much for everyone who commented on my last couple of entries. I'll try and catch up properly tomorrow if I can't get back tonight. Sorry for being such a bad blip pal just now!
