A town on top of a hill cannot be hid

'non potest civitas abscondi supra montem posita' , from the Bible, apparently the motto of Auchterarder, and loosely translated' a town on top of a hill cannot be hid'. From yesterday's industrial cotton mills running on the water power of the Tay to today's Heritage Mill Wheel at Auchterarder, commemorating the weaving industry in Auchterarder, weaving linen on machines powered by the Ruthven Water. You can see it running, the grey pebbles. More info about the weaving in Auchterarder on the extra photo. The sculpture next to it is the first of 18 willow sculptures  of golfers designed by Georgia Crook and June McEwan, a community project to form a trail through 18 communities to celebrate the 2014 Ryder Cup competition at Gleneagles. This one is the first, one for each hole of the PGA Centenary Course, no 1 Bracken Brae and depicts a golfer getting ready to tee up his ball. Looks like these willow sculptures are reasonably weather proof, still standing after almost a year.

Thanks very much for your comments. stars and even a fave for yesterday's industrial Blip :-)
