Forget-me-not
A poignant day today with a lovely ending.
The funeral I helped at went as well as we could have hoped - a lovely close family who understand the importance of holding onto their memories so that their son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew and friend will live on through them. The most touching moment was when the cousins who carried the young man into the crematorium stood holding onto the coffin on the catafalque until the rest of the family came to join them as they were united in their grief.
After that a bit of relaxation as SHH and I went for a walk around Chaddesley Corbett a beautiful Black and white Worcestershire village. We walked over fields and down lanes and remembered how good it is to be alive. We found this lovely old school building which was rebuilded in 1809, some well-lit Cow parsley and some forget-me-nots which have taken on new significance for me lately as they are the symbol for the Dementia Friends Movement.
I hope you have all had a good day too.
