Turned out fine, after all
.. the weather, that is, not the election results!
Kate and Jezzie (my sister and niece) and I took a stroll down town to the award-winning farmers' market, followed by a browse around the shops, street food for lunch (Indian for Kate, Thai for me, and I can't remember what Jezzie had), a walk around the Shambles market place, and a coffee at Mills cafe in a courtyard. In this courtyard is a wonderful emporium of everything kitchen-related (Mills Kitchen shop), so we took a look inside and I bought a tiny spatula. Later I decided to go back and buy the ultimate brownie-making pan. In order to make the ultimate brownies, I then had to go to Sunshine health shop AND Holland and Barrett's AND the corner shop...
It was too late to go sightseeing further afield, so we returned home and Kate and Jezzie went down over the fields (as seen here: this is the view from my back step) to the rope swing in the woods. The evening was golden, so they stayed out till 9, and came back to try and drag me out to enjoy a bonfire. Boringly, I said no, as I'd been trying to cook supper for all of us. I also made the Totally Ultimate Brownies, which didn't come in cheap by the time I'd added up all the shopping, but
were so worth it. The recipe is in Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's Light and Easy, and is dairy-free and gluten-free, but does contain nuts! I will add it if anyone wants it.
Oh, and I now own teff flour, coconut flour, potato starch, and a few other things I need to start making more gluten free breads, according to my kindle book on the subject!
