North By North Berwick

We took a trip down to North Berwick for a wander, discovering this toposcope  (or direction finder) tucked away at the back of the harbour, surrounded by railings and a wooden bench. It appears to be accurate, so one wonders why it is not cleaned up and proudly placed for all to see.

The extra photo is of the heron we saw fishing (unsuccessfully) on the receding tide, because I liked the juxtaposition of light and dark shades.
