Frinton-on-Sea Ted

This little teddy bear basking in this evening's sunshine is from the old-fashioned seaside town of Frinton-on-Sea in Essex.  Mum and Dad lived there for a few years, in the late 1990's and early 2000's, in a flat overlooking the sea.  They even had a cute beach hut where they sat on sunny days enjoying a picnic, and Dad loved to swim there whenever he could.

The seaside played a major part in my life when I was growing up, and I have wonderful memories of our parents picking us up from school in Westcliff-on-Sea on summer afternoons to have our tea on the beach at Old Leigh.  I was there last June for a class reunion, and was pleased to see that, like Frinton-on-Sea, it has changed very little over the years and would still be recognised by the people who lived there many many decades ago.
