I have spent many hours over the past week grinding an 8th of an inch off the stone slab floor in our new kitchen - getting rid of all the flakiness and bumpiness, having first chipped off half an inch of cement, old Lino with asbestos in it (expensive professional job) more recent Lino, and a carpet... I really wanted professionals to do this job too, as it is the dustiest job imaginable, but they quoted 2K, so I have done it myself. The result is a layer of this stone dust covering the whole house and a lovely Blue Lias floor.
