Aquilegia
Aquilegia flowers seed very easily with flowers coming in various shades and are popular in cottage gardens. However I recently read that a new disease could wipe out many of the plants. This one is very similar to those which I have seen growing wild in Alpine areas.
They are so called after the latin name for an eagle (aquila) because the shape of the of the flower petals supposedly resemble an eagle's claw. The common name of Columbine is from the Latin word for a dove as it resembles five doves together. Another name is Granny's Bonnets.
