Crossing the equator

As our ship approached the Equator, we had a surprise visit from King Nepture, demanding tribute from all travellers who had not previously crossed the Equator by sea. Everyone in that category had to line up to pay the forfeit - on this occasion it was kissing a cold, wet, fish. Yuk!
