En Plein Air

In the early hours of Sunday morning I left with 29 grade 7 students on a plane for Zhangjajie in the Hunan Province of China. Zhangjiajie, is where they shot a lot of the backdrop for the film Avatar. The landscape is breathtakingly dramatic. After a long morning travelling we caught a cable car and hiked around these hills. 
This is a photo of my grade 9 students doing a sketching activity I prepared for them. I really like how the kids here will give new ideas a go. They tried really hard. The results were errr...mixed but there were a few quality drawings I want to display.
