Bluebells Rannerdale.
Katkatkat came down from Edinburgh ready for us going off on the boat tomorrow. She hadn't seen the Bluebells at Rannerdale, so in the afternoon we made a trip over there to see them.
For those who have never been it is an incredible sight. Open fell side with acres and acres of the valley carpeted in Bluebells. They weren't as spectacular as last year but still pretty impressive. A local couple who do the walk regularly suggested they need another week or so. So we may go again next week when we are back from the canals.
There are many local legends as to the origin of these plants varying from Roman Soldiers to Norman Armies. The crags to the right of the picture are Rannerdale Knotts and the fell to the left is Whitelees Pike.
