BEWARE

All of you. If you don't know, this is a tick. Found on our dog, very common occurrence but this particular blighter came from the same area where I was bitten and contracted Lyme Disease.
                      - IMPORTANT -
Tick bites  are most often nothing more than an annoyance but IF the bite goes red and inflamed looking and you then get Flu symptoms it is crucial that you are given 6weeks of antibiotics to kill the disease.

This will tell you more if you are interested.

Sadly I didn't know this and had the classic symptoms. Many people don't know the danger point. Red rimmed bite and flu symptoms require ACTION.
Only 40% of people get the classic ring rash, so don't wait for that to appear. Removing the tick does not change your chances of contracting the disease, i think the minute those proboscis sink into your blood vein the disease is available to your blood stream. BUT it is good to know how to get them out. Most vets have tick removing devices. Pinch and twist works for me.
