The train now leaving is leaving in more senses than one ...

We boarded this train at King's Cross today having squeezed through the queues waiting to be photographed with a live Harry Potter owl at the entrance to The Platform 9 and Three Quarters shop!

This High Speed Train  Inter-City 125 took 4 hours and 20 minutes to whisk us from London to Edinburgh. It still had another 3 hours and 40 minutes ahead of it as its ultimate destination was Inverness. ( I love these long distance trains that still operate across our privatised railway network. I also loved the way that we sped past stationary road  traffic on the AI M.)

My extra photo, taken in the toilet of this ageing 1970's railway icon is one reason why this mould breaking railway design is running out of rail. Its replacement The Hitachi Super Express will take over all these 125 train units by 2019.

It was lovely to be home again after such a busy time in London and Guernsey. It was surprising to find it so cold up here but at least we had escaped the rain for today at least!
