Santé!!

Due to the unexpected arrival of six of our host’s relatives for the weekend, we were up early to make the necessary arrangements so that there was room for everybody in the house! As he had to be at home to welcome his guests, our host then dropped us off in nearby Libourne where we met up with my friends from the town's choir, and did a quick tour of the market (extra photo 1).

We’d hoped to do a spot of shopping in Libourne, but we hadn’t realised that the 8th May was a bank holiday, so unfortunately most of the shops were shut! So instead we headed back out into the hills and the vineyards and to the village where my friends live, to spend the day lunching and relaxing in their garden (extra photo 2).

On return to our host’s home, we were just in time to see the barbecue being lit in the old bread oven, fuelled by vine cuttings (extra photo 3), and to join his extended family for aperitifs on the terrace. So, along with our host, raise your glass! Santé!!
