Iffley Church, King Henry II
A friend from Sheffield who has been sorting and painting my sitting room this week has a particular interest in Romanesque architecture so I took him up to visit Iffley Church after work this evening. Pleased to say he was bowled over by it - it is a stunner.
On the left side of the south door I discovered this image of King Henry II with his disctinctive moustache and crown - a similar image of him appears on a silver penny from that time.
