Redoubtable women
I had the privilege of hosting Ursula (right) for an overnight stop on her mammoth walking tour of Wales, publicizing and fund-raising for ovarian cancer, of which she is a survivor. She's been criss-crossing the country for more than a year and so far has covered in excess of 3500 miles following long-distance paths over mountains, along rivers and around the coast, sleeping either in a tent or wherever she's offered a bed. Her journey map shows the tangled web of her foot-slogging route.
Accompanying her for few days was her sister, normally a carpenter in Mexico [normally....??]
Over supper we shared our admiration for that fearless female traveller, the Irish writer Dervla Murphy. now in her 80s. I also recalled my chance meeting with Hannah and Chico on their circumnavigation of Wales in 2013. Redoubtable women, all of them (apart from Chico who is a donkey, and male.)
