Eurosign

I must walk past this sign a dozen times every working day, but I rarely notice it. Much of the extension to our campus, and indeed our curriculum, was grant-aided by European finding, and it feels faintly sinister to me when I hear/read about the right-wing rants to "remove the UK from Europe". As a geologist, I am aware that the British Isles and Ireland are irremovably attached of the European land mass, and politically many of us feel closer to many European colleagues than to politicians in other parts of the UK. So it seemed a good time to blip this sign!
