Furry caterpillar

There is a very small shady patch under the hedge which we have reseeded with grass and today I found this beautiful caterpillar resting on the earth.  I would appreciate some identification as I couldn't find the information on the internet.  After blipping it I moved it out of harm's way.

N, T and B had to get a steer in from the other side of the farm as it was unwell, they think it might have eaten something poisonous although the field has been inspected for poisonous plants.  It was good B spotted it in the early stages as now we may be able to save it with treatment.   And one of the lambs was found dead, there is always something on a farm where there is livestock.  Again this is a mystery.
