Berkeley Castle Wedding
Back Blipped now I've had a bit of sleep...
Saturday was all about friends and family, with a wedding at Berkeley Castle in Gloucestershire*. The Berkeley's still live in the castle, and are apparently the second longest surviving family home after the Windsors, having moved in some 850 years ago. They are the only surviving family who can trace their line father to son from Saxon times. It's a fabulous castle and home.
I've been to a few weddings, but perhaps this one wins the "best of" award. The venue was superb, the catering and service likewise, and we had a day of the most splendid sunshine in between days of rain and cloudy skies!
The flower arrangements were fine too.
* Remember the song, "a nightingale sang in Berkeley Square"? At one point the family owned a single stretch of land between the castle and Charing Cross in London, and of course Berkeley Square. The square was sold, in order to pay for new glazing of the castle and central heating. And for our American friends, it's pronounced Bark-lee, not Berk-Lay (which is in California). :-)
