An Ex Pukeko

A fellow teacher who lives on a farm brought me a frozen Pukeko for my little artists to look at.  I said as little as possible hoping not to get in trouble with any "helicopter" parents.  Some of the boys worked out it had been shot.  No one cried and they were happy to draw it.  I thought it was an opportunity to look closely and see the different shades of blue, the details on the legs and feet and the different types of feathers it has.  Their drawings were realistic and will be used when they paint a Pukeko to add to their project.  Today they finished painting a watery background in tints of blue.
