A Natural Bushland
Somedays, there is a need to get out of the office at lunch times, and find a place to sit quietly. Blackburn Lake Sanctuary is a peaceful place to watch the ducks feeding in the water and listen to the sounds of the bush, but it wasn't always so. The lake was formed in 1880 when the creek was dammed. In the 1920s diving towers were erected and swimming lessons were held there. In the 40s and 50s, it was a dumping ground for rubbish. Today it is one of the few remaining natural bushland reserves in Melbourne.
