One species each day (from my backyard)

This is a close-up of a near-ripe berry of the Lophomortus obcordata (Rohutu) in our backyard. It's the favourite host for stick insects. Both species of stick insect I posted earlier are happy to live off its thick leathery leaves. Whenever we walk past the shrub in the dark and have a close look, we can find some stick insects. In spring many recently hatched babies find their way up into the branches. Its a branch of this plant that I have in a vase inside to keep the large spiny stick insect happy. After cropping the photograph I noticed the thrips on the fruit.
