Gypsy jazz
What am I like? That's two days running we've been out!
Today they had live music in the park, so we ambled along to see what was what. We skiddled our way past the helter skelter, dodged the dodgems, fought off an attack of candy floss, and eventually found our way to this big stage. However, the stage was bare - although beside it was a huge screen showing 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'; we thought that things must be running behind schedule, & so sat through 'Truly Scrumptious' & other diversions whilst waiting for the main event. We could hear music in the background, but assumed that it was coming from one of the fairground rides..... eventually we realised that actually there was some live music going on in a small marquee at the back of the fenced-off beer area. So we moved over there, & were royally entertained by a selection of local talent - including (much to hubby's delight) a trio who played some superb bluegrass music: we're definitely going to watch out for their next appearance near us.
Eventually the action did move over to the big stage; gosh, it was just like being at Glastonbury! Well, for a local event, it was jolly good ;-) The lad on the left here is Tim; he helped to build the ramp at the back of our conservatory, as, when he's not occupied with his musical pursuits, he helps his father & brother in their building business. I have to say that he was far more interested in hubby's guitar collection than he was in the application of cement or mortar, but today was the first time we'd seen him playing. Flamenco-style music isn't really our thing, & in any case by then we were both getting a bit tired & hungry. So, sorry Tim, that we didn't stay to see the whole of your set; but at least your photo was the one I chose to blip!
The jubilee weekend has turned out to be the best we've had for ages.
