Mont Orgueil Castle
A visit today to this castle which is an impregnable barrier for attack - a reminder for widwed12 theme of Barriers! This fine example of a concentric castle was built on the site of an Iron age hill fort and has its walls coming straight out of the rock. It is well worth a visit with many interesting details and artefacts. The views from the top are incredible with France in the distance - only 14 miles away! (see extra)
We moved along the coast to St Brelade's Bay - very beautiful with acres of sandy beach (the tide was out) and overlooked by an interesting Fishermen's chapel with wonderful examples of Medieval wall paintings - image added as an extra.
We only had a few minutes back at our hotel before out again for a meal followed by a visit to a performance of two Gilbert & Sullivan's operettas; hence this extremely late blip.
