Lucerne

For the second leg of our journey I thought we would stop at Lucerne. It turned out the hotel we had chosen was not quite in Lucerne, but three motorway exists short of Lucerne in a motorway service area. This was a bit of a shock when we first arrived.

The location is quite rural, and although we are only twenty minutes or so from the city centre it is difficult or expensive to get to on public transport. The nearest bus stop is 1.7 Kms away, and the taxi fare is about CHF 50.

As it is pouring with rain we decided to stay put this evening and have dinner in the service area as the hotel has no restaurant. Early to bed this evening!

The hotel is next to a large stables. The photograph shows one of the barns, of which there are several.
