The Red Fox
At Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom, near Telford, where we spent most of the day walking round whilst dodging the heavy rain showers, but enjoying the huge range of animals, birds and reptiles they have here. The best hour was spent with the 3 delightful groups of Meerkats. The first two family groups were basically wild, the first an elderly lot with good manners who we could hand feed but they were not up for cuddles or handling; the second group were much younger, more unruly and with no manners – but they did take food from our hands and went bananas when we scattered the mealworms for them!! Then the best of all were the two 18-week old, hand reared brothers who we spent a lot of time with and who loved all the attention we could give them – they were very investigative though and peered up our noses, tried to remove our glasses, burrow up our sleeves, stand sentry on our shoulders and after giving us Meerkat kisses (??!!) they curled up on our laps – very endearing creatures and I learnt a lot more about them too.
