City Wood

This evening I walked up the side of Calton Hill to have dinner in a restaurant near St Andrews House.

I hadn't been on this woodland path for about six months. It used to be the route I took to and from my Government office on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning but I don't think I had ever before fully taken in the contrast between the verdant greenery and the graffiti on the city walls that bordered this little oasis.

The effect was striking and not unattractive.

Nature eventually overcomes everything.
