"Puls 5"
The old foundry hall from the machine factory Escher Wyss in the Zurich West area. It is the first time I have been there to meet a former fellow student for lunch and positively surprised when we entered the building. It is now the meeting point of the area and includes shops, restaurants and space for events.
The foundry itself has been productive from 1898 to 1975, then used as a warehouse for almost another 30 years. The transformation of the former industrial area into a trendy business & living area is still ongoing, not always with the consent of all stakeholders -> see extra photo:
Resistance vs Renaissance
The owner of the old building didn't agree to sell/demolish his house for the new development plan. Seems that a court has now decided that the property will be expropriated, although I don't know more details about it. The lettering 'Resistance' was made by an artist as a contrast with the new hotel in the background.
